A look at the history of ten of Europe's great abandoned race circuits _x0013_ and seen as they are today in stunning photographs.
Around Europe lie a number of long forgotten monuments, wind swept and abandoned the derelict buildings and crumbling tarmac are all that remains of once great motor racing circuits. From the great speed bowls of Monza and Brooklands, to the parkland of Crystal Palace. All photographed as they are now but remembered in their prime.

SS Collins grew up in South London within sight of the Crystal Palace Race Circuit, and at the age of 16, he found himself doing work experience at Williams F1. He has been heavily involved in the sport ever since, having studied automotive and motorsport engineering he then went on a mission to write a clear and easy-to-use guide to getting started in motorsport (How to Get Started in Motorsport – Veloce). Since then, he has written for Motorsport News, Autosport, Racecar Engineering, Auto Sport Japan, Racing On!, F1 Sokuho and a number of other outlets. He has also written a number of other Veloce bestsellers including: ‘Autodrome - The lost race circuits of Europe’, ‘Unraced ...’, and a homage to where it all began for him in ‘Motor Racing at Crystal Palace - London's own circuit’. Currently, he is works as a freelance motorsport journalist and technology consultant role position that gives him unique access to the inner workings of international motorsport, and is also a regular on entry lists as he competes in sprints, hillclimbs, races, rallies and trials. He lives in St Ippolyts near Hitchin, in Hertforshire.
