Sparse evidence documents Slover's adventures, but what remains is meticulously compiled here for the first time by Timothy E. Green, who grew up with fireside tales of the mountain man's exploits. Raised below the Caprock Escarpment in Motley County, Texas, Timothy E. Green received his PhD from Texas Tech University; he taught literature and writing in colleges and universities for forty-six years before retiring from St. Edward's University in 2015. He lives in Austin, Texas.
