Style and beauty cannot be defined or bought. Finding inner balance leads to outer radiance. This philosophy is central to India Hicks Island Beauty, where she explores and demonstrates the natural resources which surround her in her Caribbean idyll and how they can be applied to life anywhere.
In her new book, 'Island Beauty', India Hicks explores the natural resources which surround her in her Caribbean idyll and demonstrates how they can be used or applied to life anywhere. The result is an inspiring lifeguide for the busy western woman who wants to make space and time in her life for natural beauty.
The book is shot on location in the Bahamas for beautiful inspiration; the advice is applicable whether you live on a desert island or just wish to get away to one. Using a fusion of sensible advice gained from her years of modelling and her research into the “bush medicine” of the islands, India offers inspiration, quick tips and recipes to create a home spa (both in the kitchen and in the bathroom) for inner health and outer beauty. From simple cleansers and body scrubs to suggestions for tailored exercise, mother-and-baby massage and energy foods, each chapter focuses on easy and accessible ways to throw off the shackles of a busy, noisy and chemical-reliant life to embrace time, space and nature for our own benefit.

India Hicks is the daughter of the late David Hicks and granddaughter of Lord Louis Mountbatten. After working for 10 years as a model in Paris and New York, she went to live in the Bahamas with David Flint Wood who had escaped from a career in advertising to run an eight-room hotel. They have three sons and live an idyllic life on the tiny but devastatingly beautiful Harbour Island. Their houses have been used as locations for fashion shoots by Vogue, LL Bean, J.Crew and Ralph Lauren among others. India also writes interiors features for House Beautiful, US.
