The amazing story of a 'fire' rescue dog
A touching. heart-warming account of a man and his beloved, heroic Labrador dog. But Echo is something special. With the dedication and persistence of his handler, he is trained to be part of a search and rescue team called upon to travel to disaster areas around the globe to assist in locating survivors trapped among piles of rubble.
The bravery of Echo and his handler is recalled in vivid detail as they cope to deal with tragedy and heartbreak in their own ways. Sometimes it can be hard facing up to the challenges and they come perilously close to death but their determination is there for all to see.
Years later, Echo is rewarded for his sterling work with the Pride of Britain award, one of such accolades he receives.

Mike Dewar was born in Glossop Derbyshire in 1968 but was brought up in Walkden near Manchester. Born into a fire service family with his father, brother and two uncles all serving with Lancashire and Manchester fire service. After service with the Parachute Regiment in the British army he joined Manchester fire service in 1990 in which he served for 30 years. In his book “Echo a New Dimension” Mike tells a story about a multi award winning yellow Labrador who served for 12 years with the fire service both in the UK and on operations overseas. it follows Echo’s unique story from day one of his training to the death and destruction of the Haiti earthquake in January 2010, it also tracks Mikes own fight with PTSD and highlights the bond that forms between dog and handler working in the most hostile environments imaginable. “Echo a New Dimension” will be for many an insight into the work of dogs in the fire service, and the incredible risks they take to keep us safe every day. Mike is married to Sue and they have one son and today live in Wales. Mike dedicates this book to all the fire service dogs who stand ready to deploy at a moments notice.
