This volume features the talent, insight and knowledge of successful volleyball coaches. The proven principles, strategies, teaching methods, practice procedures and game-management experiences told by these coaches combine to create a complete volleyball coaching book.
Now, for the first time in the sport of volleyball, you can learn from the most successful U.S. coaches and apply their approaches to your own program. In The Volleyball Coaching Bible, 24 of the top U.S. men's and women's volleyball coaches share their principles, insights, strategies, methods, and experiences to help you learn new and better ways to coach the game and develop your players.

From Mike Hebert's chapter on setting goals to Russ Rose's chapter on productive practices and Mary Wise's chapter on serving, this book provides the full-court coverage you've been looking for. The vast amounts of new information– spanning more than three decades–are divided into five sections, making it easy to choose what to implement in your program:

ï¿œ“Coaching Principles and Priorities” by Mark Pavlik, Mike Hebert, and Jona Braden
ï¿œ“Program Building and Management” by Doug Beal, Terry Pettit, John Dunning, Dave Shondell, and Tom Pingel
ï¿œ“Innovative and Effective Practice Sessions” by Russ Rose, Mary Jo Peppler, Bill Neville, and John Cook
ï¿œ“Individual Skills and Team Tactics” by Mary Wise, Steve Shondell, Teri Clemens, Paula Weishoff, Jim Stone, Rudy Suwara, Fred Sturm, Peter Hanson, and Taras Liskevych
ï¿œ“Game-Winning and Tournament-Winning Strategies” by Pete Waite, Jim Coleman, and Al Scates

Each time you open this book you'll learn something new from some of the most respected names in the game. Whether you need guidance on conditioning, coaching, scouting, or scoring, The Volleyball Coaching Bible provides you with the game plan for building a winning program.

Donald S. Shondell is a legend in U.S volleyball. In his 34 years as coach at Ball State University, his teams won an impressive 769 games, the second-highest all-time victory total by a men's team coach. Shondell was selected as an All-Time Great Volleyball Coach by the United States Volleyball Association and was the American Volleyball Coaches Association's Coach of the Year in 1995. He has coached many of the nation's top coaches, including former U.S. women's national team coach and current USC coach Mick Haley. He served as president of the USVA in 1978 and is a former president and cofounder of the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association. Shondell was a 1996 inductee into the Volleyball Hall of Fame. He retired from coaching in 1998. Shondell lives in Muncie, Indiana. With more than 600 wins and 25 years of collegiate coaching experience, Cecile Reynaud ranked in the top nine in career victories among active Division I coaches when she retired from Florida State University after the 2001 season. In May of 1996, Reynaud received the George J. Fischer Leader in Volleyball award presented at the USA Volleyball national meetings. This award recognizes long-time, significant contributions to volleyball programs and activities in the United States. She is a current member of the Volleyball Hall of Fame selection committee and served 12 years on the USA Volleyball board of directors and three years on the executive committee.
