This fascinating and well-illustrated book, which is packed with valuable information and advice, provides a complete guide to observing, recording and understanding the weather and to setting up an amateur weather station. As the author explains, the advent of relatively modern electronic weather sensors means that weather observing is now within the reach of almost everybody. Moreover, thanks to computer software and the internet, it is easier than ever before to record and share with others your weather data and observations.
Roger Brugge has been interested in weather since his school days. He obtained a PhD at Imperial College studying atmospheric convection and has subsequently developed computer models that simulate the workings of both the atmosphere and ocean. He currently works in the Department of Meteorology at the University of Reading. A Fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society, Roger was formerly editor of the Society's Weather magazine, and he also helped to develop and run the Society's MetLink project for schools in its early years. In his spare time Roger is editor of the monthly bulletin of the Climatological Observers Link. His interest in 'current weather' led to the development of his long-running weather web pages covering UK weather. As a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) ambassador he also frequently visits schools to deliver talks about weather observing and forecasting.
