stage, overnight stays in refuges are naturally listed, so the pilgrim can easily find a place after a hard day. Information about sights along the Way and important general hints on topics such as "arrival and departure", "equipment", and "language", complete the description of the Way.
Dr. Raimund Joos has lived on the East Bavarian Way of St. James in Eichstätt (Germany) since 1988. There, he studied pedagogy, Spanish, and theology, and within the scope of his PHD studies spent a longer research term at the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, IN (USA). He was later employed in the education field of adultand applied sciences. Since 1992, he has made pilgrimages in Spain, France, Portugal and Germany. Beginning in 2004, he has primarily worked as a hospitalero (refuge manager), travel book author, and travel guide on the Ways of St. James. He also leads weekend seminars for preparation for the Way of St. James. Aside from other publications in various media, the following books have been published by the Conrad Stein Verlag only in German: “Pilgrimage Stories of the Many Ways of Saint James“, “Pilgrimage on the Ways of Saint James“, “Portable Phrase Book – Spanish and Beyond on the Way of Saint James”, “Spain: Way of Saint James – Viade la Plata”, “Portugal: Way of Saint James – Caminho Português“, “Spain: Way of Saint James – The Northern Way”, “Spain: The English Way”, and “Northern Spain: The Way of Saint James – The Original Way”.
