This Time is a photographic exploration and commentary on the human idea of time and it's connection with nature. The project was shot by Yana Toyber is photographed on impossible project film, instant film which is modern day Polaroid film. Shot on Polaroid camera models 600 and SX-70 each image conveys emotion by the subjects and their surrounding. The images are portraits, environmental landscapes, nudes, and nostalgic still life moments captured in an instant by the artist. Over all colour of each image in nature is affected by the temperature of the surroundings. Blue hues are usually taken in cold weather, pink, gold and orange hues are taken in warm weather temperatures, however there are some exceptions but that has been the general observation. The project has taken about three years to complete and has documented the stillness as well as movement and change of seasons and life cycles. The surreal appearance of images is a statement by the artist of how time is non linear and how moments in time are never replicated even though there is a sense of repetition.

Yana Toyber doesn't remember the two years she spent in her native Ukraine before her parents moved to Brighton Beach, but her photography nevertheless betrays an outsider's eye, a hard-edged Eastern-bloc poetry. Her sense of grace and form--specifically the female form--was honed in part at the School of American Ballet, which she attended on scholarship as a teenager. A graduate of the School of Visual Arts, Yana has flitted through Manhattan's art and fashion circles, chronicling the city's culture and nightlife for such publications as The Fader and Vanity Fair. Her work has appeared in museums and galleries including the International Center of Photography, Kodak Eastman House, and the Soho photo gallery. She has been profiled in W, Zoo, and Modern Painters to name a few.
