The first reference book with comprehensive information on a cultural scientific level.Abundantly equipped with unique never before published photos.
»Shimmering Darkness« provides a wide view into this sub- and counter-culture movement by examining ist developments and motives, as well as its contradictions. Some 600 illustrations impart a visual impression of the opulence of this often elaborately ornamented and costumed scene. International artists, journalists, academics, DJs and promoters, as well as scene members themselves give their views on over more than 400 pages. The expanded version builds on the original German edition by including new interviews, texts and illustrations dealing with the British context in which Gothic and related genres first appeared.
