This new title in New Holland's 'Visitor's Guide' series takes the reader on a tour of one of New Zealand's most charismatic regions - a long, hilly peninsula of twisting coast roads that weave around delightful golden-sand bays; forgotten settlements with roots in the old gold-rush days; clusters of offshore islands that beckon to boaties and divers; leafy havens of hippies, artists and weekending Aucklanders and visitors from farther afield. Randall Inch's book covers all the local history and the must-see attractions, locations and activities in the following regions: Thames and coast, Coromandel Town and points north, Whitianga area, Tairua/Pauanui, Whangamata, Waihi and Paeroa.

Writing and publishing is a third career for Aucklander Randall Inch, who started out working in advertising for a variety of agencies before setting up his own partnership, and then moved on to teaching. He lectured in a variety of courses at the Auckland University of Technology before leaving to set up the successful Axis Adschool Creative Advertising course, on which he is currently course coordinator. He has previously published guides to the Coromandel in four small staplebound volumes, from which he drew much of the inspiration for this book. He is a keen cook, gardener, non-fiction reader and tramper.
