Born in Dundee, Robin Gauldie was educated at Edinburgh University, where he studied history. He worked in a museum in Stirling and as a reporter on several local newspapers in Scotland before moving to London, where he now lives. He is the author of numerous travel guides, including the Globetrotter guides to Egypt, Jamaica, Sri Lanka, Goa, Ireland and Scotland.
