Situated at the southern extremity of mainland Asia, the Malay Peninsula is strategically placed at the nexus of the seasonal monsoons and straddles one of the world's most ancient and important trade routes. Comprising both the Malay Peninsula and the states of Sarawak and Sabah on the island of Borneo, 600km (373 miles) to the east across the South China Sea, Malaysia lies at the heart of Southeast Asia. The country is a vibrant, culturally diverse society, comprising Malay, Indian and Chinese ethnic groups, together with a remarkable variety of indigenous peoples. This pictorial tribute will take readers on an evocative journey through 'the land where the winds meet'. Concise text and beautiful images capture the diversity of the country, from the modern capital, Kuala Lumpur, and the Iush Cameron Highlands - carpeted with tea plantations - to the virgin rainforests of Sarawak and the historic trading town of Melaka.
