Alan Frost holds a Personal Chair in History at La Trobe University, Melbourne. His books about Australian colonial history and British exploration of the South Pacific include Convicts and Empire and Arthur Phillip, 1738 1814. His most recent books are Botany Bay Mirages and The Precarious Life of James Mario Matra.
