In 1964 Jo and Brian Dawtrey and their three children set off on their second tour of Overseas Aid to Tanzania, East Africa. Leaving behind twelve years experience of farming in England, they are appointed to initiate agricultural and resettlement schemes for tribal communities enabling them to upgrade their standard of living and to grow cash crops.This story is about their extensive travel, often having to build or repair the roads before them, their wild bush adventures and their strident humanitarian efforts to bring tribal communities into the modern world.When they are finally posted to the tropical coast of Tanga Province, they feel they have reached heaven but 'God' has unforeseen plans for the Dawtreys.

Married with a nuclear family of 14. 12 years family farming in England. 24 years organising agricultural land development schemes and building rural roads and dams for African governments under the British Overseas Services Aid programme and The World Bank. 16 yrs Hon.Wildlife Ranger. Past Chairman of the Wildlife Conservation Society of Zambia.
