A guide to Morocco. It provides an insight into the Moroccan people, the aftermath of the Arab spring, and the role of women. It covers the Moroccan arts and crafts, music, architecture, food and outdoor activities.
Insight Guide Morocco is illustrated with hundreds of specially commissioned photographs. Our inspirational Best of Morocco section picks out the highlights, ensuring you see the best the country has to offer.
For centuries, Morocco's breathtaking landscapes and unique heritage have inspired some of the West's most famous artists, writers and musicians, from Matisse to Bob Marley. Cities such as Tangier and Marrakech also became the hippest places to stay for a weekend or a lifetime, their palaces and villas the scenes of decadent parties and all manner of ex-pat intrigues.
Today, Morocco is once again one of the world's most fashionable destinations, and our History and Culture chapters give you the background story, exploring Morocco's past and present with engaging and accessible essays. We give you an insight into the Moroccan people, the aftermath of the Arab spring, and the role of women. Magazine-style features cover Moroccan arts and crafts, music, architecture, food and outdoor activities.
All major sites are cross-referenced with the full-colour maps, and the travel tips section provides a wealth of information on how to plan your trip and carefully selected hotel and restaurant listings.

Tatiana Wilde, a writer and travel editor, moved to Marrakech in 2008. Since then she has restored a 500 year-old riad, camped in the Sahara, drunk tea in beatnik Tangier, got lost in labyrinthine souks, stuck on snowy mountain passes and explored almostevery inch of Morocco - from the Atlantic to the border with Algeria.
