Ireland lies on the western edge of the great European land mass, its eastern edge tucked into the largest of the British Isles, its western coast thrusting out into the Atlantic Ocean. This book is a voyage of exploration, illustrated with over 600 photographs that are a true celebration of Ireland in all its many moods and facets.
This title includes a detailed introduction about Ireland's rich culture, political history and natural and geographical makeup. It features over 600 stunning photographs of Ireland's varied terrain, including lakes and mountains as well as its cities and medieval-looking towns. You can discover the architecture of Ireland from aristocratic manor houses to thatched cottages to Dublin's city arches. Ireland lies on the western edge of the great European land mass, its eastern edge tucked into the largest of the British Isles, its western coast thrusting out into the Atlantic Ocean. It is not a very big island, being a little over 300 miles from top to bottom and about 170 miles at its widest point. Organised into chapters that look at each region within Ireland, A Celebration of Ireland visually expresses the variety of life and nature that makes this island unique - from the quiet land of fields and thatched cottages to the wild places, the strange limestone country of The Burren, to the wind-swept remoteness of the mountain country to the west and the faster pace of Dublin's city life.
This book is a voyage of exploration, illustrated with over 600 beautiful photographs that are a true celebration of Ireland in all its many moods and facets. If you have not yet been to Ireland then you are sure to desire a trip after casting your eyes on the wonders and delights that it has to offer.

Janice Anderson was born and educated in New Zealand, where she read English and History at the University of Canterbury. Her father's family come from Ireland and her mother's from Scotland, so it is natural that she should be fascinated by both countries, having visited them many times to discover more about her own ancestry. Most of Janice's working life has been in journalism or publishing, as both editor and writer. Although she has several travel books and social histories of England and Scotland to her credit, this is the first she written on the subject of Ireland.
