Dr Vincent Power is the author of two Bloomsbury books: Competition Law and Practice and Irish Competition Law. He has a BCL from University College Cork (where he was a College Scholar and the first Distinguished Law Alumnus) as well as a LL.M. and a PhD from the University of Cambridge where he was an Evan Lewis Thomas Law Student. He is the winner of the Albert Lilar prize for the best shipping law book in the world in the previous five years. He is a partner specialising in EU law, EU and Irish competition/antitrust law, regulatory law and transport law. He is Head of A&L Goodbody's EU, Competition & Procurement Law Group which is consistently ranked at the forefront of law firms in its field. He has been described as "outstanding, hugely experienced and arguably the top competition lawyer in Ireland". Vincent has been involved in most of the leading competition, merger control, EU, cartel and State aid cases in Ireland for over 20 years including the major takeovers, investigations, court cases and studies. He has been involved in over 400 merger filings in Ireland and the EU. He has been involved in most of the cutting edge, ground breaking cases in Ireland. He advises both national and multinational clients as well as public and private bodies. Vincent counsels clients in almost every economic sector. Vincent won the "Irish Commercial Lawyer of the Year" award at the Inaugural Irish Law Awards in 2012. He is a member of the board of directors of the Irish Centre for Europe Law at Trinity College Dublin and Portius, the international ports law body. He has chaired, been a member of and advised four governmental commissions or bodies. He is the former Chairperson of the Irish Society of European Law.
