Svitlana Mazepa is an Associate Professor in the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure at West Ukrainian National University and a former Vice-Dean of its Faculty of Law. She is also an international Guest Researcher in the Centre for European and International Criminal Law Studies at Osnabrück University. Mazepa has been awarded a Volkswagen scholarship for her research projects "On Propaganda and Misinformation as Tools of the Information War" (2022/2023) and "Digital Violation in the Human Rights Dimension" (2023/2024).
In 2022, she served as a Visiting Professor at Jagiellonian University. Her professional background includes her role as Senior Inspector at the National Central Bureau of Interpol in Ukraine. She is a member of the International Police Association, a speaker at the High School of Judges, and a trainer in anti-corruption courses for civil servants. Additionally, she has authored several articles and book chapters, and has participated in numerous international research projects and internships.
Mazepa is an elected Council member of the European Law Institute and the inaugural Chair of the ELI Ukrainian Hub. She is an active participant in international conferences and projects, and has authored over 60 articles. Her scientific interests focus on criminal law and international cooperation in criminal matters. She speaks Ukrainian, Russian, and English, and is actively studying German and Polish.
