Land Law: Knowledge, Skills and Practice is a concisely written, easy-to-follow, structured introductory guide to Land law for students of the LLB and SQE, which also serves as a refresher for practitioners. It combines the knowledge components necessary for understanding Land law, as well as for developing broader legal skills. These include clear legal writing and the skills of extrapolating and breaking down complicated legal topics into more easily accessible and manageable points.

The book covers all the core topics of Land law, using a mixture of academic law coverage and worked practice examples in a unique chapter structure which presents LLB/ SQE1 and SQE2/ practice aspects as freestanding units. At the beginning of each topic, the book sets out ‘at-a-glance’ summaries of the key principles. These key points are then developed through explanatory commentary, flow charts and diagrams, and worked practice examples. Chapters end with summaries and suggestions for further thinking and research, as well as how those ideas might be implemented into student work or practice examples.

Designed to bridge the gap between degree level study and practice through worked examples and self-study exercises, this book encourages students to put their knowledge into practice. Its tried and tested approach provides students with everything they need to succeed when studying Land Law at undergraduate level, and when taking the SQE exams.

Kirsty Potts is a Lecturer at Exeter University Law School. She is a barrister (non-practising), mediator and writer in property and construction law. Kirsty is an examiner, national standard setter and content writer for the Bar Standards Board and the Solicitors’ Qualifying Exam, as well as a member of the Property Bar Association and an assistant Land Registrar at the Land Registry.
