This text is written for graduates and undergraduates in real estate programmes. The book emphasizes general law, and utilizes the casebook method. Major topics are examined analyzing edited appelate-level court cases. The book presents both general law and significant minority positions. The approach adopted by a particular state or states is identified only for purposes of illustration or if it suggests an emerging trend. Property law is more often steeped in history than in logic, hence material has been included to provide an historical context to help the reader understand the law in its present state. There is extensive use of case studies. The use of narratives connects specific topics to other related topics in the text, and helps students see the "bigger picture". The use of questions and comments invites class participation and encourages discussion. An instructor's manual and test bank are available.
