This text provides an introduction to the principles of delict in Scots law, illustrating these principles by discussing of leading cases and the extensive use of diagrams and flow charts. It is divided into intentional delicts; unintentional delicts; and special categories of liability in delict.
Delict is a compulsory course in all the Scottish University Law Schools as well as being taught as courses in the Scottish polytechnics and central institutions. The book is based on Professor Thomson's lectures prepared for a new course on delict at Glasgow University. The emphasis is on principle rather than full citation of precedent, and there are many examples.
