Now in its sixth year, this loose-leaf publication issued 10 times a year provides an up-to-date digest of legal cases of interest to the construction industry (in particular, decisions of the Official Referee's Court) together with details of new statutes and contracts. Each issue includes, in addition to the 32-page digest, an eight-page commentary on recent developments and a detailed index of contents and cases. Increasingly, as building structures have become more complicated, work is placed with sub-contractors who design, manufacture and install specialist units, or with suppliers who design and manufacture units. This has proved to be the Achilles heel of the construction industry. All too often, these sub-contrators or suppliers fail to perform in accordance with their obligations and cause great loss to the building owner or the main contractor. Oten too, they are inadequately financed and go into receivership or liquidation. This book examines in detail the employer's and main contractor's rights and remedies when a sub-contractor or a supplier defaults.
It deals with the law and includes cases not reported elsewhere; it also contains practical advice to the courses of conduct to be followed. All the major construction contracts are discussed.
