Skin injuries are among the most common, and, certainly, the most visible, symptoms of physical abuse in children. In some cases, these injuries may leave lasting marks on the bodies of the abused¾enduring tokens of the pain inflicted upon them. Randell Alexander, MD, PhD is a professor of pediatrics at the University of Florida, USA and the Morehouse School of Medicine and has served on several state child death review committees. He is an active researcher, lectures widely, and testifies frequently in major child abuse cases throughout the country.
