In these days of the "vanishing trial," when there are fewer opportunities to learn at the feet of masters, this book an invaluable guide for trial lawyers needing to focus, prioritize and prepare for that morning when they alone will say, "Ready, Your Honor."
The essential process of preparation in the final months before trial is the same-keeping in mind that every case is unique, every court has different rules, and every judge has personal preferences. In recent years, detailed trial rules have proliferated in our jurisdictions, just as the tolerance of courts and judges of ignorance (or knowing non-compliance) with those rules has lessened. These facts along with client expectations, means there is little room for "learning by doing" in preparing a case for trial. Preparing for Trial demonstrates how to systematize your approach to the final weeks before trial, to assure there are no loose ends in your case, and to limit the stress of a very demanding time. It is an invaluable guide for trial lawyers needing to focus, prioritize and prepare for trial.

Bruce W. Felmly is a trial lawyer with over forty years' experience who chairs the Litigation Department at New Hampshire's largest law firmMcLane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton, P.A. He joined that firm as an associate in 1972, after graduation from Cornell Law School. Bruce served as the President of the New Hampshire Bar Association in 1995 to 1996, and was elected a Fellow to the American College of Trial Lawyers in 1990. From 2006 to 2010, he served on the Board of Regents of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He is an elected member of the American Law Institute, has served multiple terms on the New Hampshire Board of Bar Examiners, and chaired the New Hampshire Supreme Court Long-Range Strategic Planning Effort for the Court System in 2003.
