Corruption scandals hit the headlines all around the world, across a diverse range of institutional, organisational and cultural settings. Corruption is a major obstacle to political, social and economic development - its 'internationalisation' has had profound implications for counter corruption efforts. The Internationalisation of Corruption provides readers with an analytical framework with which to approach the issue of corruption in international affairs, from the perspective of international studies as an interdisciplinary space in the social sciences. The authors also examine the implications of corruption in world politics, international business and global finance; how corruption is linked to transnational crime networks; and the consequences of corruption for international development and world health. Clare Fletcher and Daniela Herrmann are Senior Researchers at NHS Protect (responsible for countering corruption in the UK health service), and work with the University of Portsmouth to deliver a bespoke postgraduate degree: MSc in Counter Fraud and Counter Corruption Studies. Together, they make up NHS Protect's Research Unit, which carries out research to support evidence-based policy-making on a wide range of counter fraud and corruption issues. Both have academic backgrounds in International Relations. Clare Fletcher has a keen interest in transparency and accountability issues, particularly as in relation to the management of public services. She has skills and experience in policy research, analysis and evaluation, having worked for a number of organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors in the UK, across a broad range of multidisciplinary policy areas. Clare graduated from the University of Birmingham with an MA in Political Science Research Methods and a BSocSc in Political Science and International Studies. Daniela Herrmann has a keen interest in international anti-corruption research, coupled with skills and experience in policy analysis, evaluation and advocacy. Before joining NHS Protect, Daniela has worked with the UN Development Fund for Women in Beijing and with parliamentarians in Westminster and Brussels. She graduated with an MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics and a BSc in Social Sciences from Heinrich-Heine University, Düsseldorf. Daniela is also an Accredited Counter Fraud Specialist.
