Three CDROMs in a regular size soft-shell DVD case.
The complete install components for FOUR architectures: i386, amd64, macppc, sparc64.
The following architectures only available via FTP download: alpha, armish, hp300, hppa, landisk, loongson, mvme68k, mvme88k, sgi, sparc, vax, zaurus.
The CDs are bootable on i386, amd64, macppc, and sparc64.
A funky and surprisingly artistic CD insert sheet which contains installation instructions. The information on this piece of paper makes OpenBSD somewhat easier to install than if you do an FTP install.
A full source tree (ready for AnonCVS use).
Xenocara / X.Org 7.6 (+ patches) binaries and source code.
Our own ports tree which has improved an insane amount since OpenBSD 5.0. Almost all packages work on almost all architectures.
Several pre-built binary packages for the most common architectures, which are very easy to install directly off the CDROM.
As always, stickers included!
And many other things...
OpenBSD 5.2 soll im Herbst 2012 veröffentlicht werden.
Every six months (around May 1 and Nov 1) OpenBSD makes an official software release. To accompany this free software release on the FTP servers, we make artwork and a song which are distributed along with the software on a set of CDs. The proceeds from sale of these products is the primary funding of the OpenBSD project. Available on CD means the official CD set includes that platform and a number of packages. Base system CD ISO images can also be downloaded for most other platforms. These images are not the same as the official CD sets.
New users frequently want to know whether OpenBSD is superior to some other free UNIX-like operating system. That question is largely unanswerable and is the subject of countless (and useless) religious debates. Do not, under any circumstances, ask such a question on an OpenBSD mailing list. More information on OpenBSD platforms can be found on the Platforms page: www.openBSD.org
