A narrative of Captain Scott's expedition to the Antarctic. This book provides a record of various aspects of the expedition which set out from Dundee in 1901, from the realities of daily routine to their wonder at discovering strange landscapes, as well as the trials of harsh weather conditions, food shortages and illness.
Robert Falcon Scott was a British naval officer and Antarctic explorer, born into a naval family in Plymouth in 1868. He commanded two expeditions to Antarctica, one in 1901-04 and the other in 1910-1912, the latter from which he and his companions did not return. He wrote The Voyage of the Discovery, an account of his first expedition, on his return to England in 1905, and the diaries and scientific findings of his second, Scott's Last Expedition, were published posthumously in 1913.
