Finally, users will find comprehensive information on how adsorption thermodynamics affects system performances from an energetic standpoint given that thermodynamics are strongly related to the energetics of adsorption systems. Different chapters introduce the brief background of utilizing the gas-solid adsorption phenomenon in multifarious energy applications such as thermal management, desalination, volatile organic compound removal, etc.
Bidyut Baran Saha is currently a Professor and Principal Investigator at the International Institute for Carbon-Neutral Energy Research (WPI-I2CNER) of Kyushu University, Japan. His research focuses on adsorption science for carbon-neutral energy systems, heat and mass transfer analysis, and energy efficiency assessment. He has published more than 300 articles in peer-reviewed journals. He has edited eight books and holds thirty-one patents. Tahmid Hasan Rupam is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Missouri-Columbia, USA, having previously been a JSPS postdoctoral research fellow at the International Institute for Carbon-Neutral Energy Research (WPI-I2CNER) of Kyushu University, Japan. His research expertise includes adsorption thermodynamics, sorption kinetics, functional adsorbent material synthesis and modification, surface energy analysis, and theoretical modelling of adsorption cooling/heating cycles. Hongbin Ma is Chair, Curators' Distinguished Professor and Glen A. Barton Professor in the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, and Director of the Multiphysics Energy Research Center (MERC) in the College of Engineering at the University of Missouri-Columbia, USA. He has conducted active research in phase-change heat transfer, heat pipes, ejector refrigeration, and thermal management.
