Hydrogen Production, Storage, and Utilization: Technologies and Applications presents a comprehensive and in-depth exploration of the scientific and engineering principles of hydrogen technology. Written in a technical and scientific manner, using rigorous scientific language and mathematical models to explain principles and applications, the book covers various aspects of hydrogen technology, ranging from fundamental principles of thermodynamics and kinetics to practical applications of hydrogen production, storage, and utilization.
Includes chapters on the latest advances in hydrogen production, including methods such as steam methane reforming, electrolysis, and biomass gasification
Expresses the scientific principles of hydrogen storage, including metal hydrides, carbon-based materials, and liquid carriers
Discusses the latest research on fuel cell technologies, including proton-exchange membrane fuel cells, solid oxide fuel cells, and microbial fuel cells
Covers hydrogen safety aspects, including risk assessment, safety protocols, and safety standards
Explores the challenges and opportunities associated with the deployment of hydrogen technology, including economic viability, environmental impact, and social acceptance
The book is intended for scientists, engineers, researchers, and graduate students in the fields of chemical engineering, materials science, renewable energy, and sustainability, as well as policymakers and stakeholders interested in the potential of hydrogen as a clean and renewable energy carrier.
Abbas Tcharkhtchi is a distinguished professor at Arts et Métiers ParisTech (ENSAM). He has previously served as the head of the Polymers and Composites Group at ENSAM, the head of the Processing, Mechanic, and Materials Department, and a member of the research council of ENSAM. At present, he is the scientific manager of doctoral training in the PIMM Laboratory at the ENSAM-Campus Paris, responsible for 70 PhD students. He has published over 200 papers and contributed to the publication of several books. Hamid Reza Vanaei is an associate professor at the Ecole Supérieure d’Ingénieurs Léonard de Vinci (ESILV), Léonard de Vinci University in Paris, France. He obtained his MSc and PhD in Mechanics of Materials from the Arts et Métiers Institute of Technology in Paris and works as an associate researcher at the same institute. With six years of experience in materials science, mechanical engineering, and advanced manufacturing, his primary research focuses on a multidisciplinary approach to optimizing advanced manufacturing techniques. Albert Lucas is a research engineer in Mechanical and Materials Engineering at ENSAM in Paris. He specializes in rotational molding processes, nondestructive testing (NDT), and the relationships between processes, microstructures, and mechanical properties. He has co-authored several scientific papers and contributed to patents related to polymer hydrogen tank development. He is currently in the final year of his PhD preparation. Sedigheh Farzaneh is the Director of P4Tech, an engineering company, in France. She has been a lecturer and researcher at ENSAM, Léonard de Vinci University, and ISIPCA in France for over 30 years. She holds a PhD in Life Sciences from Pierre and Marie Curie University (Paris VI), specializing in areas such as polymers, biopolymers, biomass, and hydrogen technologies. Dr. Farzaneh has led research projects, supervised numerous PhD and Master students, and published over 30 scientific articles.
