This book presents varied geomorphological topics and planetary studies from different geomorphological regions analysed by young researchers from Latin America, from Costa Rica to southern Argentina, from the mountains to the oceans, and from the Caribbean to the Scotia tectonic plates.  The six chapters included in this book originate from presentations made during the "IAG Central and South American Webinar" carried on in March 2021 for the commemoration of the "Geomorphology Week", promoted by the International Association of Geomorphologists (IAG) and coordinated by the invited book editors. The chapters develop topics related to landforms and geomorphological processes originated by modern tectonics along a transform tectonic plate boundary, by cryo-snowy environments in the drier Central Andes, by fluvial and littoral processes in the Brazilian inland and the Atlantic coast, and by high runoff generated by storm-cells driving into mountainousand wooded terrains. New insights on Mars water features research are also included in the book. Several chapters refer to risk assessment for society or resource management considerations; other chapters refer to present or recent geomorphological processes but others do so to those developed in the Quaternary.

Andrea Coronato is full researcher (recently retired) at the Quaternary Geology and Geomorphology Lab. at CADIC-CONICET and retired Full Professor of Physical Geography, Geomorphology and Landscapes at the University of Tierra del Fuego, both at Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina. Her publications are available in several specialized, international journals. She is co-author of the Springer title Glaciations in North and South America from the Miocene to the Last Glacial Maximum: comparisons, linkages, and uncertainties (2012). Besides, has published several chapters in the titles:  Advances in Geomorphology and Quaternary Studies in Argentina. Selected papers of the VI Argentine Congress of Geomorphology and Quaternary Studies (2017), Advances in Geomorphology and Quaternary Studies in Argentina (2020 and 2021), Geological resources of Tierra del Fuego (2021), and Archaeology of Piedra Museo locality. An Open Window to the Early Population of Patagonia (2022).

Grace Bungenstab Alves is a Professor of Physical Geography at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), Brazil. She holds a Ph.D. in Physical Geography from the University of São Paulo (USP) and specializes in studying the connections between soil and landforms in tropical landscapes. Additionally, she serves as the general secretary of the Geomorphology Brazilian Union (UGB) and is the Editor of the Revista Brasileira de Geomorfologia (Brazilian Journal of Geomorphology).
