This book provides a systematic and comprehensive introduction to the technical principles, materials, processes, and equipment of the electron beam wire deposition technology (EBWD), while focusing on the research results of the author’s scientific research team engaged in this technology in China. It mainly introduces the conceptual connotation, principle, and characteristics of the EBWD technology, its position and function in the additive manufacturing technology system, the direction and trend of technological development at home and abroad, the fundamentals and application results of the EBWD technology, including technical principles, equipment technology, special materials, manufacturing technology, quality testing, and application practices. So this book can serve as a reference book for teachers, students, and scientific researchers in scientific research institutions who are engaged in relevant studies.

Prof. Dr. Shuili Gong received his Ph.D. degree from Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Xi’an Jiaotong University in 2001. Currently Dr. Gong is Deputy Chief Engineer of AVIC BAMTRI (Beijing Aeronautical Manufacturing Technology Research Institute), Principle Technology Specialist of AVIC in non-traditional machining subject, and Executive Vice-President of National Key Laboratory for Power Beam Processing Technology, China. Dr. Gong is also appointed as part-time Professor in many Universities including Dalian University of Technology, Beijing University of Technology, and Shenyang University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Dr. Gong focuses on the researches of power beam (laser/electron beam/plasma) processing technologies including welding, cutting, additive manufacturing, and surface engineering. Dr. Gong received the prestigious Brooker Award from TWI Ltd (2013), and has 85 patents and published more than 200 technical papers.Dr. Jianrong Liu received his Ph.D. degree from Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2004. Currently Dr. Liu is Professor of IMR CAS (Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences). Dr. Liu focuses on the researches of titanium and its alloys used in additive manufacturing and aerospace fields. Dr. Liu has 11 patents and published more than 60 technical papers. Associate Professor Guang Yang received his M.S. degree from Department of Materials Science and Engineering, AVIC BAMTRI (Beijing Aeronautical Manufacturing Technology Research Institute) in 2012. Currently Guang Yang is Associate Professor of AVIC BAMTRI. Associate Professor Yang focuses on the researches of processing technology of Electron Beam Wire Deposition (EBWD). Associate Professor Yang has 13 patents and published more than 10 technical papers. Dr. Haiying Xu received his Ph.D. degree from school of Mechanical Engineering and Automation, Beihang University in 2009. Currently Dr. Xu is Professorate Senior Engineer of AVIC BAMTRI (Beijing Aeronautical Manufacturing Research Technology Institute). Dr. Xu focuses on the researches of power beam sources (laser/electron/plasma) technology and equipment.
