Dr. Debapratim Pandit is currently an Associate Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, India and a Ph.D. in Urban engineering from University of Tokyo, Japan. His research interests lie in the area of urban transportation planning and design, urban informatics and urban utilities and services planning. He has over 30 publications in international journals and conferences and is a regular reviewer of Scopus indexed journals. He has created two online courses with 60 lectures each on Urban Landuse and Transportation Planning and Urban Utilities Planning: Water Supply Sanitation and Drainage under the SWAYAM-NPTEL MOOCs platform of Government of India. Dr. Pandit is currently in charge of the Urban informatics and Advanced Transportation & simulation laboratory at the Department of Architecture and Regional Planning and has guided 5 Ph.D. scholars and approximately 50 Master’s students. Dr. Pandit has worked extensively on bicycle infrastructure design, bicycle sharing systems and bicycle infrastructure planning in general. He has completed several prestigious research and consultancy projects on bicycle infrastructure planning funded by the Government of India. Ar. Deepa Sharma is currently a researcher at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, India and holds a Master Degree in City Planning from the Department of Architecture and Regional Planning, IIT Kharagpur. She specializes in public transit planning, paratransit planning, bicycle infrastructure planning and public bicycle sharing systems. She has presented her research work at various national and international conferences and published research articles in various Scopus indexed international journals. She has served as a teaching assistant at the Department of Architecture and Regional Planning and is currently engaged in several projects including the development of software and hardware for fully automated self-service public bicycleshare system; intelligent urban bus transit dispatch, control and surveillance system using artificial intelligence and user perception; and service quality assessment for paratransit services in Kolkata, India. She has also been engaged in several bicycle infrastructure planning and design projects including improvement of bicycle accessibility to rail stations, and planning and designing of bicycle tracks in the Indian context.
