Rainwater Harvesting—Building a Water Smart City
Springer International Publishing (Verlag)
978-3-030-94645-6 (ISBN)
This book introduces the readers to possible aspects of the rainwater harvesting system against urbanization to plan, design, and implement. Practical applications of rainwater harvesting to supplement potable water, stormwater management, greywater reuse, and managed aquifer recharge are included. Along with conventional practices, advanced technologies for conceptualizing, data collection and processing, test procedures, and design principles are provided to illustrate the theory. This book is a pathway to a water smart city, example problems reflect the solutions for harvested water quantity and/or quality and afterward. Socio-economic assessments are incorporated to explore comprehensive knowledge.
The book covers an interdisciplinary field, thus, suitable for students, researchers, and professionals associated with rainwater harvesting system development and management
lt;p>Aysha Akter (b. 1978) is a professor in the Department of Civil Engineering and currently holding the Departmental Head position of Water Resources Engineering at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), Bangladesh. Prof. Aysha completed a BSc in Civil Engineering degree from Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), Bangladesh in 2000. Following this in 2003, she obtained an MEng degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) while she was also working for LGED. Thereafter she went to the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand for another MEng degree in Water Resource Engineering and Management, and graduated in 2005. She achieved a prestigious Ph.D. degree in Civil and offshore Engineering from Heriot-Watt University, the United Kingdom in 2011 with the support of a competitive James-Watt Scholarship. As recognition of her excellent research in 'rainwater harvesting', she was awarded the prestigious University Grants Commission (UGC) Award 2015. She has more than 70 publications in ISI indexed journals and national and international conferences.
