Photosynthesis: From Plants to Nanomaterials in the Nanomaterial-Plant Interactions series, summarizes both the foundational mechanisms and latest advances in photosynthesis. With a strong emphasis on artificial photosynthesis, the book also analyzes the role of nanomaterials in energy production. Starting with an introduction to plant photosynthetic systems, chapters discuss the structure of light harvesting systems, energy transfer and membrane protein complexes. The book later describes the role of nanoparticles in photosynthesis, including agricultural applications, advances in nanobionics, and the impact of engineered nanomaterials.

This book is an essential read for researchers and students interested in photosynthesis, bionanotechnology and nanomaterials.

Harvey Jian-Min Hou PhD is a professor in the Department of Physical Sciences at the Alabama State University. He received his PhD in Chemistry from Peking University in China and conducted his postdoctoral training at the Rockefeller University. He has been working on structure and function relationship of membrane proteins including photosynthetic reaction centers and G protein-coupled receptors using molecular biology, biochemistry, and biophysical techniques for over 19 years. He has published 3 books, and is the editor or editorial board member for 13 international science journals. Suleyman I. Allakhverdiev is the Head of Controlled Photobiosynthesis Laboratory at the Institute of Plant Physiology of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), Moscow. He obtained both his B.S. and M.S., in Physics from the Department of Physics, Azerbaijan State University, Baku. He obtained his Ph.D. in Physics and Mathematics (Biophysics), from the Institute of Biophysics, USSR. He has been a guest editor of more than 30 special issues in international peer-reviewed journals. At present, he is associate editor of the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, section editor of the BBA Bioenergetics, and associate editor of Photosynthesis Research, Functional Plant Biology, Photosynthetica, Heliyon, Cells.
