To ensure its growth or survival, a microorganism must find in its environment what it needs to satisfy its nutritional needs: energy, carbon, nitrogen, etc.These elements must be provided in an environment where favorable physicochemical conditions prevail (temperature, pH, osmotic pressure, etc.). The next six chapters deal with the different metabolic pathways specific to each category of nutrients (carbohydrates, proteins, lipids and other organic compounds), while the last chapters deal with the synthesis pathways and the main laboratory tests used to demonstrate the different metabolic properties.

He is a teacher-researcher at the University of Saida and a member of the research team on microorganisms and their bioactive metabolites.
