This contributory volume is a comprehensive account of recent research on extremophilic fungi. It brings to the readers, latest information on all categories of extremophilic fungi, their isolation, culture, and potential applications. The book aims at providing the audience in-depth and updated theoretical concepts, also application on the field. It will serve as a supplementary reading material in addition to basic mycology textbooks. The book fills the gap in literature and will be useful to the postgraduate students and researchers in the field of mycology, agriculture, biotechnology and Microbiology.

Dr Sanjay Sahay, Professor of Botany, is currently serving Sarojini Naidu Government Girl’s Postgraduate College, Bhopal (India). He obtained his PhD in fungal genetics (Patna University, Patna, India), and post-doctoral research experience in yeast molecular biology (Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India). He has teaching experience of 27 years, guided 18 PhD students, published more than 30 research papers, contributed 3 book chapters and filed two patent applications in lignocellulosic ethanol one of which has been awarded. His areas of research include psychrophilic fungi, cold-active enzymes and lignocellulosic ethanol. He has been awarded Biotechnology National Associateship by Department of Science and Technology, Government of India and Research Award by University Grants Commission, India.
