This book highlights the importance of incorporating coal bottom ash (CBA) into self-compacting concrete exposed to aggressive conditions. The incorporation of CBA in concrete is a sustainable strategy to prolong the lifespan of concrete. The content of the book is also regarded as a solution to the environmental issue. It helps academics, researchers, and students to acquire a better understanding of the influence of coal bottom ash on the properties of concrete through four sequential chapters. The book first presents background information on concrete deterioration, and then the improvement in properties of self-compacting concrete with different percentages of CBA exposed to tap water, sulphate solution, chloride solution, and seawater.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Haziman Bin Wan Ibrahim received his Ph.D. in the field of civil structural engineering from Universiti Sains Malaysia USM Penang, Malaysia, in 2001. He is a senior lecturer in the Department of Structural and Material Engineering at Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering (UTHM). He has an extensive experience in global networking. His research interests include numerical modelling, concrete durability, sustainable construction materials, and environmental engineering. Up to now, Dr. Haziman has published hundreds of papers for various high impact journals, conference proceedings. His H-index is 15. He also won various awards in research exhibitions.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shahiron Shahidan was born in Perlis Malaysia, in 1983. He received his early education at Sekolah Kebangsaan Kampong Salang. He graduated in 2007 with B. Eng. (Civil)(Hons) from University Industry Selangor. After graduation, Dr. Shahiron was employed as Bridge Engineer at a consulting engineering firm for almost a year before making an academic career at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). In 2014, he just completed his doctoral degree at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). Currently, he is a senior lecturer in the Department of Structural and Material Engineering at Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Dr. Shahiron has also been actively publishing his work in high impact journals and also wrote several book chapter while also being active as a conference attender and often a keynote speaker.

Dr. Hassan Amer Algaifi completed his Ph.D. from University Technology Malaysia, in 2020. He is currently serving as a post-doctoral fellow at UTHM. His research interest is concrete technology, self-healing concrete, numerical modelling, artificial neural networks modelling, and X-rays CT scan model.

Dr. Ahmad Farhan Bin Hamzah received his Ph.D. in the field of concrete durability from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, Johor, Malaysia, 2017. He is currently serving as Research Officer at the Hydraulic and Instrumentation Laboratory, National Water Research Institute of Malaysia (NAHRIM). His research includes concrete durability, hydroenvironment, water engineering, and physical modelling. His H-index is 15.

Ramadhansyah Putra Jaya holds a first degree in civil engineering from the Syiah Kuala University, Banda Aceh, Indonesia. He then pursued his higher degrees at Master (University of Science, Malaysia - 2008) and Ph.D. (University of Science, Malaysia - 2011). In January 2012, he was appointed as the senior lecturer at Faculty of Civil Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. In July 2018, he was appointed as the associate professor at Faculty of Civil Engineering and Earth Resources, Universiti Malaysia Pahang. His research interest is in highway engineering, concrete technology, advanced materials, and nanotechnology.
