Ionic liquids in Analytical Chemistry: New Insights and Recent Developments focuses on the use of these materials in the field of chemical analysis, paying attention to different areas such as sample preparation, separation techniques, spectroscopy and electrochemical methods. Chapters describe the structure and properties of new ionic liquids and eutectic solvents that are widely used in analytical chemistry, review ionic liquids in sample preparation, liquid, micellar liquid and gas chromatography, and capillary electrophoresis. Final chapters are devoted to spectroscopic and electrochemical techniques. The whole volume provides a broad overview of recent applications of ionic liquids.

The book will serve as a valuable resource to researchers and laboratory technicians working in the field, as well as instructors and students of analytical chemistry.

Samuel Carda-Broch was born in Villarreal (Castelló, Spain). He obtained his PhD from the University of Valencia in 1999 under the direction of Prof. García-Álvarez-Coque. After working in the pharmaceutical industry (Italfármaco, Madrid, Spain), in 2001 he moved to the Laboratoire des Sciences Analytiques at the University Claude Bernard in Lyon (France) for a post-doctorate stay under the supervision of Dr. Alain Berthod, granted by a Marie Curie fellowship. In 2002, he moved to the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the Iowa State University (USA), together with Prof. Alain Berthod to work with Prof. Daniel Armstrong. He has worked in the University Jaume I in Castellón (Spain) since 2003, where he is Professor. He has written more than 100 research articles, most focusing on the field of applied analysis, with a main focus on micellar liquid chromatography. He has also made outstanding contributions in countercurrent chromatography and the use of ionic liquids in chemical analysis. María José Ruiz-Ángel was born in Valencia (Spain). She obtained her PhD from the University of Valencia (Spain) in 2003 under the direction of Prof. García-Álvarez-Coque. Between 2004 and 2006, she was granted with a post-doctorate fellowship in the Laboratoire des Sciences Analytiques at the University Claude Bernard in Lyon (France) under the supervision of Prof. Alain Berthod. Between 2007 and 2008, she was awarded with a Ramón y Cajal research position in the Department of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Valencia, where she has been Professor since March 2012. She has written over 70 research articles, most focusing on secondary equilibria using surfactants and ionic liquids, fundamental studies in HPLC, modelling and optimisation in HPLC, countercurrent chromatography and development of analytical methods for pharmaceutical and clinical samples.
