This new edition covers a wide range of equipment and provides an overview of related principles and applications. Easy to understand, it includes the advanced technology developed since the publication of the previous edition and adds two new chapters on special applications of evaporators and optimization.
This new edition of Air Pollution Control Equipment Selection Guide builds upon the successes of previous editions that developed a detailed discussion on various technologies used for air pollution control. This book covers a wide range of equipment and provides a good overview of the related principles and applications. A particularly valuable feature are the practical examples, not commonly available in other books. Based on the author’s fifty years of experience in applying and operating air pollution control equipment, this book provides easy-to-read information on basic air pollution control technology and is the quintessential resource for the busy engineer and for those who do not have formal training in air pollution control.

FEATURES OF THE THIRD EDITION

Uniform and consistent applications information for comparing the effectiveness of different technologies.

Provides answers to questions about how to reduce operating costs and how to achieve peak performance.

Concise descriptions of each equipment with diagnostics and testing suggestions.

New chapters on optimization techniques that help readers deal with different types of hardware for better performance and efficacy.

Kenneth C. Schifftner has more than 40 years of experience in the area of air pollution control. He has been involved with more than 1,000 successful gas cleaning projects. He holds a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. He has authored more than 50 technical articles on gas cleaning technology, and co-authored two books. Schifftner has been an instructor for numer¬ous courses sponsored by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), provided academic and corporate technical training seminars, served as an expert witness regarding air pollution control technology, and functioned as a consultant to small and large firms interested in solving air pollution problems. Schifftner has also received four U.S. and foreign patents to date on novel mass transfer devices, which are used worldwide. Schifftner is a former chairman of the Environmental Control Division of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). He is an active member of ASME, the Semiconductor Safety Association, and Technical Association for the Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI).
