Written for the second-year engineering students of undergraduate level, this well set out textbook explains the fundamentals of Fluid Mechanics. Written in question-answer form, the book is precise and easy to understand. The book presents an exhaustive coverage of the theory, definitions, formulae and examples which are well supported by diagrams (wherever necessary) and problems in order to make the underlying principles more comprehensive.
In the present third edition, the book has been thoroughly revised and enlarged. Modification to every chapter has been carried out on the basis of suggestions received and new developments in this area. Additional typical problems based on the examination papers of various technical universities have been included with solutions for easy understanding by the students.
Objective questions of competitive examinations of GATE, IES and IAS have also been included with solutions and explanations at the end of each chapter.
G.S. Sawhney has served as Professor and Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, GNIT Greater Noida. Earlier he was at Lord Krishna College of Engineering, Ghaziabad in the same capacity. Prior to joining teaching, he had served for 28 years in the Corps of Engineers and for 10 years in industry. He has authored 10 books including Fundamentals of Computer Aided Manufacturing, Heat and Mass Transfer and Workshop Practice & Engineering Experiments (published by I.K.
