In the present third edition, the book has been thoroughly revised and enlarged. Modification to every chapter has been carried out on the basis of suggestions received and new developments in this area. Additional typical problems based on the examination papers of various technical universities have been included with solutions for easy understanding by the students.

G.S. Sawhney has served as Professor and Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, GNIT Greater Noida. Earlier he was at Lord Krishna College of Engineering, Ghaziabad in the same capacity. Prior to joining teaching, he had served for 28 years in the Corps of Engineers and for 10 years in industry.
