B Factories are particle colliders at which specific subatomic particles - B mesons - are produced abundantly. This book studies the properties of their decays in detail in order to shed light on a mystery of eminently larger scale: why do we live in a universe composed of anti-matter?
B Factories are particle colliders at which specific subatomic particles - B mesons - are produced abundantly. The purpose is to study the properties of their decays in great detail in order to shed light on a mystery of eminently larger scale: why do we live in a universe composed of anti-matter? This book introduces readers to the physics laws of the CP asymmetry, touching on experimental requirements needed to perform such measurements at the subatomic level, and illustrating the main findings of the contemporary B Factories.

Bostjan Golob is a professor of physics at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. He has conducted research in experimental particle physics at the European Organization for Nuclear Research, (CERN) and at the High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK). As a member of international collaborations Belle and Belle II, he has also done research at KEKB and at SuperKEKB collider. He is also a co-editor of The Physics of the B Factories.
