This is the very first book that offers an up-to-date and comprehensive overview on deuteride. It not only includes the concept, existing forms, key characteristics, but also reviews the preparation and characterization technologies and the latest research developments of deuteride. The special properties such as the nuclear properties, isotropic and neutron effect, poisonousness, radioactivity, volume expansion are systematically discussed to build up the sound understanding of the materials. In particular, this work reviews a number of commercial and scientific uses of the materials including nuclear reactors, NMR spectroscopy and medicines.
Researchers and industrial professionals in medicine, chemistry, biochemistry, environmental sciences and defense sciences will benefit from this work.

Liu Jiping is currently a full professor in the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Beijing Institute of Technology, China. Liu Jiping received the Bachelor degree in chemistry from Guizhou Normal University in 1982 and got his PhD in National University of Defense Technology, China. From 1985 to 1995, Liu was a project group head, engineer, senior engineer at Research Section 1, Air Force Research Institute of Aerial Ammunition. Since 1995, Liu joined the School of Chemical and Materials, Beijing Institute of Technology and served as the vice director of National Laboratory of Flame Retardant Materials.

Prof. Liu is an expert scientist in energetic materials science and technologies. His works mainly focus on energetic materials, flame retardant materials, new type energy sources materials and special materials, etc. Liu's research works have been published in more than 260 papers, 5 books, and 7 patents. Liu was awarded as Trans Century Talent by the Ministry of Education in 1996.
