This book is the result of the work of the first international congress of the ArabGU (Arabian Geosciences Union) which took place in Algiers (Algeria) in February 2016. It presents research articles and review papers on geology of the North Africa and Arabian Middle East . It provides information to the public on various fields of earth sciences and encourages further research in this field in order to attract an international audience.

Prof. Dr. Abderrahmane Bendaoud is a full Professor of Geodynamic, Magmatic and Metamorphic Petrology and Geochemistry at the Department of Geology of the 'Universit? des Sciences et de la Technologie Houari Boumediene' in Algiers, Algeria. He is one of the vice-presidents of ArabGU (Arabian Geosciences Union). Abderrahmane has published 30 articles in international peer-reviewed ISI journals.?

Prof. Dr. Zakaria Hamimi is a full Professor of Structural Geology at the Department of Geology of Benha University, Egypt. He is a member of the Egyptian Universities Promotion Committee, the Supreme Council for Universities (SCU, Egypt). He is the president of the ArabGU. He has published 23 articles in international peer-reviewed ISI journals and about 19  textbooks on Earth Sciences (Arabic Edition).

Prof. Dr. Mohamed Hamoudi is a full Professor of Geomapping and Remote Sensing at the Department of Geology of the 'Universit? des Sciences et de la Technologie Houari Boumediene' in Algiers, Algeria and a visiting scientist at GFZ Potsdam, Germany. He is the president of the Algerian Geophysics Society. Mohamed has published 35 articles in international peer-reviewed ISI journals.??

Prof. Dr. Safouane Djemai is a full Professor of Structural Geology and Remote Sensing at the Department of Geology of the 'Universit? des Sciences et de la Technologie Houari Boumediene' in Algiers, Algeria. He is one of the vice-presidents of ArabGU. Safouane has published several articles in international peer-reviewed ISI and other journals.??

Prof. Dr. Basem Zoheir is a full Professor of Mineralogy & Economic Geology at the Department of Geology of Benha University, Egypt. He have two book chapters published by Nova Science and was a visiting scientist at the USGS (Denver Federal Center), LTU (Sweden), Univ. of T?bingen, TU Clausthal (Germany), Univ. of Geneva (Switzerland), and now a Humboldt fellow at Kiel Univ. (Germany). He is one of the vice-presidents of ArabGU. Basem has published 30 articles in international peer-reviewed ISI journals.
