This report gives an initial impression of the potential scale and costs of technical responses to energy related greenhouse gas emissions. It is the UK contribution to the "national studies" undertaken for the intergovernmental panel on climatic change.
This report is the UK contribution to the "national studies" undertaken for the Energy and Industry sub-group of the intergovernmental panel on climate change. It gives an initial impression of the possible scale and costs of technical responses to concern about energy related greenhouse gas emissions. The assumptions made and calculations reported may therefore be subject to revision as more information becomes available. In the light of the continuing wide-ranging public debate on energy and the environment, particularly in relation to climate change, the Department of Energy hopes that, by making this report generally available, it will create a wider public understanding of the issues.
