Originally published in 1931, this book contains the report of the Imperial Geophysical Experimental Survey regarding an extended field study carried out in various parts of Australia from 1928 to 1930. The aim of the study was to test the applicability of geophysical methods in a range of conditions which were seen as representative of different parts of the British Empire. Electrical, gravimetric, magnetic and, to a limited extent, seismic methods were examined in areas containing sulphide and other ores, brown coal, graphite and saline waters. The text contains an account of the study, together with numerous illustrative figures and a detailed index, it will be of value to anyone with an interest in the development of geophysics.
