This full-color volume covers various IR imaging techniques, including transmission reflection, transflection, and attenuated total reflection (ATR) imaging, and Raman imaging. The efficient use of vibrational spectroscopy in clinical applications is emphasized in this state-of-the-art guide.
Coverage includes:
Automated breast histopathology using mid-IR spectroscopic imaging
Synchrotron-based FTIR spectromicroscopy and imaging of single algai cells and cartilage
Preparation of tissues and cells for infrared and Raman spectroscopy and imaging
Evanescent wave imaging
sFTIR, Raman, and surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopic imaging of fungal cells
Widefield Raman imaging of cells and tissues
Resonance Raman imaging and quantification of carotenoid antioxidants in the human retina and skin
Raman microscopy for biomedical applications--efficient diagnosis of tissues, cells, and bacteria
The current sate of Raman imaging in clinical application
Vibrational spectroscopic imaging of microscopic stress patterns in biomedical materials
Tissue imaging with coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering microscopy
Dr. Gokulakrishnan Srinivasan received his PhD in Chemistry in 2005 from the Institute of Physical Chemistry at the University of Stuttgart, Germany. His doctoral research was under the able tutelage of Dr. Klaus Mueller and involved the characterization of Chromatographic Column Materials by Solid-State NMR and FTIR spectroscopy. In 2006, he joined Dr. Rohit Bhargava´s group as a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Bio-engineering and Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) where he actively engaged in the applications of infrared spectroscopic imaging for the diagnosis of cancer, the kinetics of self-healing polymers, and other biopolymers. During his doctoral and post doctoral work, he has presented and published in various conferences and journals and has been awarded the prestigious German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) fellowship as well as the Graduate College “Chemistry in Interphases” fellowship. In 2007, Dr Srinivasan joined Bruker Optik GmbH, in Germany as an application scientist. Currently he is with Bruker Optics India where he is handling the sales and application support for all FTIR and Raman products. Dr. Srinivasan is a reviewer of the Journal of Chromatography A and Analytical and Bio-analytical Chemistry as well as an active member of several professional societies including the Society for Applied Spectroscopy and the Coblentz Society.
