This handbook is meant as a resource for the users of the "Woodcock-Johnson-Revised" (WJ-R). It should assist in writing pseudo-educational evaluations in educational and clinical settings.
This handbook is meant as a resource for the users of WJ-R. It should assist in writing pseudo-educational evaluations in educational and clinical settings. The first section is comprised of a variety of recommendations for cognitive, academic, behavioural, and social interventions. The evaluator can select and modify these recommendations as appropriate for each individual. The second section should help the psychologist, special educator, speech-language pathologist, or vocational specialist translate the identified areas of need into behavioural objectives for planning instruction and developing the individual education plan. The third section presents case studies that exemplify the use of the WJ-R in educational and clinical settings with clients from pre-school to aged 86. A wide variety of diagnoses is presented that illustrate interpretation of the WJ-R based on scores, tests, behaviours, and clinical history. The reports included in this section demonstrate the use of a variety of formats and types of scores and can be used as models for similar cases or applications. Also included are descriptions of the tests that can be copied and appended to reports.
The fourth section, the appendix, contains short summaries of interventions and remedial techniques that were referred to in the recommendations. The Appendix also includes several charts and checklists and a guide for selecting an appropriate placement for a student with Attention Deficit Disorder. These summaries can be copied and attached to evaluation reports to aid teachers and parents in understanding and implementing the recommended techniques.
