Pharmacology of Ketamine: Fundamentals, Applications, Delivery Systems and Clinical Aspects is a reference aimed at closing the gap between scientific knowledge and practical applications of ketamine. Despite the extensive coverage of ketamine in literature, this book is dedicated to translating pharmacological research into clinical practice. It meticulously explores the multifaceted properties of ketamine for diverse applications, delving into dosing strategies, routes of administration, and their pharmacological implications. The book begins with an introduction that underscores the need to bridge research and practice. It delves into the pharmacological intricacies of ketamine, dissecting its mechanisms, dosing strategies, and explores the diverse routes of administration and their impact on ketamine's metabolites. The book then explores the PK and PD characteristics of ketamine, followed by a deep dive into clinical applications emphasizing anesthesia, psychiatric therapy, and emerging treatments. The final part of the book covers addiction, toxicity, and future research perspectives. Pharmacology of Ketamine: Fundamentals, Applications, Delivery Systems and Clinical Aspects serves as a comprehensive reference tailored to the needs of both researchers and clinicians involved in the administration and study of ketamine. This book equips pharmacology researchers with the knowledge and insights necessary to make informed decisions regarding ketamine's formulations. Clinicians will also benefit from the broad foundational content and clinical aspects provided across medical specialties.

Albert Dahan received his MD at the VuMC Amsterdam (1986) and his PhD in 1990 at Leiden University. The title of his dissertation was The ventilatory response to CO2 and O2 in man: methods and implications. Part of the research was performed in the US (UCLA). After he became an anesthesiologist (1995), he worked at Leiden University Medical Center as anesthesiologist and founded the Anesthesia & Pain Reseacrh Unit. Research was and is performed in several facilities including the animal research lab, the cardiorespiratory lab, the pain lab and the OR and PACU. He was appointed as professor is 2004 and gave his inaugural speech in 2005 (May 25, entitled Bij Kennis, or Awake with Wisdom). Dahan is member of several prestigious American and European editorial boards, such as the of the US journals Anesthesiology, Pain and European Journal European Journal of Pain. Dahan is member of several international advisory boards relating to perioperative care and opioids and is co-author of several internal guidelines. David Dadiomov, PharmD, BCPP, is a clinical assistant professor of pharmacy practice in the Titus Family Department of Clinical Pharmacy. He received his PharmD from the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy. He completed his PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at Michigan Medicine, and his PGY2 Psychiatric Pharmacy Residency at University of California, San Diego, Health. He holds board certification in psychiatric pharmacy. Dadiomov serves as the director of the PGY2 Psychiatric Pharmacy Residency Program. He maintains clinical practice in addiction medicine at Los Angeles General Medical Center. In this role he provides consultations in psychiatry and addiction as well as seeing patients in the Complex Care Clinic. Dadiomov has worked with the LA County Department of Health Services to establish novel clinical pharmacy services for patients experiencing homelessness, patients currently or recently released from incarceration, as well as those with severe mental illness and addiction disorders.
