This slide atlas contains 58 illustrations of haematological malignancies, and shows typical cytological features of peripheral blood cells. It should be a useful teaching aid for haematologists who teach junior medical staff, medical laboratory scientific officers and medical students.
The first step in making an accurate diagnosis of an haematological malignancy is a careful assessment of peripheral blood features. Only then can costly follow-up tests be done, including a bone marrow aspirate, often supplemented by cytochemistry, immunophenotyping and cytogenetic analysis. This slide atlas contains 58 illustrations of the common, and some uncommon, haematological malignancies, and shows typical cytological features of peripheral blood cells. It should be a useful teaching aid for haematologists who teach junior medical staff, medical laboratory scientific officers and medical students.
