One of her own companies, a graphic design and sign business, fits into this demographic. She has been doing business in the sign industry since 2001. In addition, Dr. A owns an antique mall and a successful wholesale business that delivers products to smaller gift stores and outlets throughout the country. Barbara Mae Carter is a professor at Colorado Technical University, teaching leadership and organizational development classes. Barbara serves on the dissertation committee for doctoral research at Colorado Technical University and presents at Doctoral Symposia. She is an experienced Instructional Designer with a demonstrated history of consulting and facilitating adult learning. Barbara completed a Doctor of Management with a concentration in Organizational Development and Change from Colorado Technical University. In December 2019, she published her dissertation, The Leadership Practices Female ODC Managers Use to Improve Change Initiatives.
